There’s a range of fun family-friendly activities in Adelaide this December. As it is December, there are plenty of festive themed activities, including a Christmas tree festival and carols by candlelight.

Strawberry picking at Beerenberg – from November to April

Cost: $4 entry then $9.95 per kilogram of strawberries

Strawberry picking is a fun family friendly activity. Picking strawberries is something children and adults will both enjoy, and the best way to get the freshest strawberries. Just remember to take a hat and sunscreen to keep you protected throughout your day. When you’re finished in the fields you can head down to the Beerenberg shop where you will find a range of delicious jams, relishes, dressings, and sauces among other products.

Moonlight Cinemas – 1 December to 18th of February

Cost: $19

With the warmer nights, it is perfect whether to watch movies under the stars in Botanic Park. A range of movies is offered throughout the month, including Murder on the Orient Express, Home Again, and the Man Who Invented Christmas. Remember to take a blanket or chairs to make yourself comfortable.

Willunga Christmas Tree Festival – 2nd and 3rd of December

Cost: $3 Adults, free for children

The festival in its 16th year will be held in Bethany Hall. it will include beautifully decorated christmas trees, childrens’ activities, and music. There will be plenty of stalls will be filled with delicious home-baked goods. There will even be an adventure trail for the younger ones to explore where they will receive a prize when they finish the trail.

Norwood Symphony Orchestra Classics Showcase – 3rd and 9th of December

Cost: $20 Adults, free for under 17’s

The Norwood symphony orchestra will showcase a range of classics at the Brighton concert hall on the 3rd or at the Norwood concert hall on the 9th. If you enjoy classical music this is an event not to be missed.

Adelaide Carols By Candlelight – 10th of December

Cost:

Adelaide’s largest outdoor carols is held in Elder Park and is a great way to start the festive season. A night filled with classic christmas carols by amazing artists, including Dami Im Lucy Durack, Samantha Jade, Sam Moran, and Taylor Henderson. Bring a picnic rug to get comfortable.

Lobethal Lights – 10th to the 30th December

Cost: free

The largest community christmas light display in the southern hemisphere is not to be missed. It is a christmas tradition that has been going for over 60 years. Either stay in your car and drive around the town to see the dazzling displays or take a walk to truly take in the sights. You can jump on a tour bus for a price but you will need to book in advance.
