Shannon’s Adelaide Rally – 4 to 7 December

Cost: spectators free

Location: various locations throughout the Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu Peninsula

A four day motor rally held in the areas surrounding Adelaide and comprising 30 stages. Last year’s event saw over 300 cars competing. And if you want to participate, entries can be processed via the website below. The program also includes two CBD based street parties in the evenings, the Gouger Street Party on 6th December and the Finale Party in Adelaide’s East End on 7th December.

Elton John Live in Botanic Park – 4 and 5 December

Cost: from $119 (plus booking fee)

Location: Adelaide Botanic Park

Elton John is doing one final world tour with his Farewell Yellow Brick Road run of shows, stopping by in Adelaide to play outdoors in the atmospheric surrounds of the Botanic Gardens. Promising a set-list spanning his incredible 50 year career, this is sure to be a spectacular concert event from one of popular music’s most enduring and talented figures.

Lobethal Christmas Lights – 8 to 29 December

Cost: free

Location: Lobethal

Located in the Adelaide Hills, Lobethal has been lighting up at Christmas time for more than sixty years in a genuine grass-roots celebration of the festive season. With an accompanying program of events, this is the largest community Christmas lights display in the Southern Hemisphere. Sunday 8 December is when the lights are first switched on, with the program continuing nightly until late in the month.

KFC Big Bash Twenty20: Adelaide Strikers v Sydney Thunder – 31 December

Cost: Adult tickets from $22 (plus booking fee)

Location: Adelaide Oval

New Year’s Eve at the cricket has become a tradition in Adelaide with the Strikers once again taking on the Sydney Thunder in a Twenty20 match at the Adelaide Oval.
