Umbrella: Winter City Sounds – 12 to 28 July

Cost: Various (including some free events)

Location: Locations throughout the Adelaide CBD and suburbs, plus events in South Australian regional centres

Now in its fourth year, the Umbrella festival is a two-week celebration of contemporary music, featuring local and interstate artists performing across 250 events and 111 venues. With a mixture of city-based curated events and open-access performances that spread across the suburbs and into regional areas, Umbrella takes place in laneways, bars, community centres and office spaces. There are also a number of street parties and an installation in Rundle Mall where shoppers can watch music creation in action. Check out the website for a full run-down of events.

Adelaide Beer and BBQ Festival – 12 to 14 July

Cost: session prices from $30 (plus booking fee)

Location: Adelaide Showgrounds, Wayville

Combining the tastes of fine beer and great food with a range of performances across one weekend, the Beer and BBQ Festival is a treat for the senses: a music festival, a celebration of craft beer and one big cook-up! As well as the food and drink on offer, the performance line-up includes music by You Am I, Frenzal Rhomb and Cash Savage & the Last Drinks.

Spin Off Festival – 19 July

Winter Reds Weekend – 26 to 28 July

Cost: Free (with some ticketed events)

Location: Various locations in the Adelaide Hills

Wineries and venues throughout the Adelaide Hills region play host to a weekend of wine, food and live entertainment. Involving 30 cellar doors and 50 events across day and night, offerings include wine tastings, lunches and dinners. The weekend showcases the best of this celebrated wine region, pairing outstanding reds with sumptuous food, all with the backing of some great entertainment options.
